Discover the new dining innovations on board Scenic Eclipse as Corporate Executive Chef, Tom Götter and his culinary team take guests on an unparalleled gastronomic journey at sea. 
The culinary experience on board Scenic Eclipse, The World’s First Discovery Yachts™, is unquestionably in a class of its own. 

At up to 10 different dining experiences on board, spanning casual meals to the most refined, you can savour truly all-inclusive cuisine and premium beverages of impeccable standards. 

Presiding over the culinary team since the ship’s maiden voyage in 2019 is Corporate Executive Chef, Tom Götter. Chef Tom is supported by a team of more than 38 highly skilled chefs that originate from more than 15 countries, most have been with him since the first Scenic Eclipse voyage.   
Chef Tom is passionate about creating dishes with authentic local flavours that are reflective of the regions through which they travel.  

“I see my team as a big family which brings so much diverse experience from all around the world,” says Chef Tom. “By being able to hold the team together, we have created such a great and strong union which ensures we deliver to the 6-star standards our guests expect.”  
The range and scope of culinary operations that Chef Tom manages is impressive, to say the least. With more than 3,000 recipes currently in the on-board dining repertoire (and even more in development), a guest would have to be cruising for more than one and a half months in order to sample every culinary option.   

Innovation also drives Chef Tom and his team to continually fine tune and expand the culinary offering for guests. Over the past 12 months, Chef Tom has been instrumental in working with Scenic on even more enhancements to the ultra-luxury Discovery Yacht, taking into account guest feedback and making the best use of all on board spaces.  
Now on Deck 7, the Yacht Club has been significantly reimagined to create a more casual and flexible dining experience. The venue has been redesigned to include new food islands, outdoor and lounge seating which has created a more relaxed dining flow for guests. 
“We have a new large sofa lounge to give guests the option of eating in a more casual way than on traditional dining tables. We added a big gelato cooler which will showcase our freshly-made gelato at its finest. Overall, I’m very excited about the new Yacht Club. I imagine it will be a space where guests will mingle, dine or simply ‘hang out’ in one of our brand-new swing chairs and enjoy the magnificent views,” said Chef Tom.   

The new Night Market @ Kokos takes its inspiration from all around Asia, India and the Middle East. “At the new Night Market @ Kokos, we cook everything in front of our guests on a teppanyaki grill, and we have a freezing plate for rolled ice cream. Basically, we take you through a journey of 10 courses through the night markets of the world,” says Chef Tom.  

While at Sushi @Koko’s, new window bench seating allows guests to dine on sushi at sleek bench table-tops as they overlook incredible ocean views. 
At the exclusive, invitation-only private degustation dining Chef’s Table experience, you will be among a group of just 10 guests to enjoy an exquisite 11-course degustation meal for you, paired with premium beverages. Be enthralled as Chef Tom personally delivers and presents each dish to your table, explaining the world-class techniques he used in each creation and the origin of the ingredients.  
Of course, in addition to the fine culinary moments on board, there is also a range of immersive experiences that enthusiast gourmands can look forward to experiencing onshore with Chef Tom and the Scenic Eclipse culinary team. In select locations, guests can disembark and visit food markets with a chef and learn all about the regional nuances and ingredients particular to your specific destination.   
In 2023, Scenic Eclipse will be travelling for the first time on exciting new voyages to Japan and the Russian Far East. 
“Just the thought of going shopping with our guests in Japan brings a big smile to my face,” says Chef Tom. “Japan has a stunning food culture and produce – it is probably one of my favourite destinations.” 

About Chef Tom Götter   

The head of Scenic’s expert culinary team, Chef Tom Götter was born and raised in Germany but became inspired by global cuisine after graduating from school and travelling the world. His career includes stints in Michelin-star restaurants and five-star hotels and resorts in Germany, Spain, Austria, Australia, Indonesia, Canada and the US. Successfully obtaining his Culinary Kitchen Master in Germany, he started to work on board ships and fell in love with the flexibility of ingredients available on the ocean. Since 2018 he has been part of the Scenic team and has since appeared on Top Chef Germany and now leads the culinary team on board the ultra-luxury Scenic Eclipse where he is responsible for the quality of the ingredients, designs the menus and heads the kitchens.
