Day 1 | Highlights:
Xin Chao and welcome to Vietnam! On arrival you will be personally met by your Scenic Representative and transferred* to your luxury hotel. (Please arrive by 5.00pm). Enjoy time at leisure before meeting your Tour Director for a welcome briefing followed by dinner.
Two Night Special Stay: Hanoi
Day 2 | Hanoi Highlights:
(1) visit the History Museum and Hoa Lu Prison to uncover the history of the Vietnamese revolution; or (2) stroll the bustling local markets to buy ingredients for your cooking class; or (3) discover hidden places that make Hanoi the artistic and cultural capital of Vietnam; or (4) explore cultural and historical sites during your half day tour.
Day 3 | Hanoi – embark Halong Bay cruise Highlights:
Journey to Halong Bay and board the elegant Au Co for an awe-inspiring special two night cruise through the picturesque waters of this spectacular World Heritage-listed icon. Enjoy a delicious lunch as the boat cruises towards the south east end of the bay passing by Chicken Crock, Finger Islet and Toad Islet. Explore Dark and Bright Cave by bamboo boat or kayak or take a relaxing swim in the surrounding lagoon. After Happy Hour watch the Vietnamese cooking demonstration on the sundeck and later try your hand at some squid fishing.
Two Night Special Stay: Au Co Cruise
Day 4 | Halong Bay cruise Highlights:
Begin the day with a Tai Chi lesson on the Sun Deck. After cruising through the bay arrive at Cat Ba Island where you can explore the island by bike or foot. Later try your hand at some kayaking around Ho Ba Ham Bay and then soak up the amazing views whilst cruising during an extended happy hour at the Lan Ha Bar. Tonight feast on your BBQ buffet.
Day 5 | Disembark Halong Bay cruise – Hanoi – Siem Reap Highlights:
After your morning Tai Chi, visit Surprise Cave, one of the biggest caves in Halong Bay, full of beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Whilst returning to Tuan Chau enjoy a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony before disembarking and commencing your drive back to Hanoi for your flight to Siem Reap, gateway to the renowned temples of Angkor Wat. Sous Sdei and welcome to Cambodia!
Three Night Special Stay: Siem Reap
Day 6 | Siem Reap Highlights:
Spend the morning exploring Angkor Thom and the multi-faced Bayon Temple before driving past the Elephant Terrace viewing platform. Then before lunch explore and marvel at the size of Angkor Wat in detail.
Day 7 | Siem Reap Highlights:
Marvel at sunrise over the magnificent Angkor Wat before enjoying breakfast in a peaceful location prepared by a local NGO bakery with a glass of champagne.
Day 8 | Siem Reap – embark cruise Highlights:
Drive to Kampong Cham with stops at the ancient Khmer bridge at Kampong Kdei, Kampong Thom and a stone cutters village. Next stop is the luxurious Scenic Spirit.
Day 9 | Wat Hanchey - Kampong Cham Highlights:
Meet the young novice monks at Wat Hanchey, an ancient hilltop pagoda and monastery. Walk to the top and soak in some of the best elevated views of the cruise. Sail to Kampong Cham where you visit Phnom Pros (Man Hill), explore the ecotourism village of Cheung Kok and Wat Nokor, an 11th century temple that has a modern pagoda built within.
Day 10 | Oudong > Kampong Tralach > Koh Chen Highlights:
After arriving at Prek K'dam, board your coach to the ancient capital of Oudong to visit the mountain stupas, pagoda and monastery.
Day 11 | Phnom Penh Highlights:
Journey to the Killing Fields and tour Tuol Sleng (S21), or take a guided tour of the local food market before joining a hands-on Khmer cooking demonstration. Or explore by Tuk Tuk Phnom Penh’s colonial buildings and shop in the Central Market before enjoying lunch at a local NGO restaurant.
Day 12 | Phnom Penh - Tan Chau Highlights:
This morning, visit the National Museum and Royal Palace with its famous Silver Pagoda before begging your journey down the Mekong river to the Cambodian and Vietnamese border.
Relax during a full afternoon of cruising as you cross the border into Vietnam. Make use of the ship’s luxury and take the time to enjoy a cocktail by the pool or appreciate some solitude on your private balcony. Tonight enjoy your gala dinner.
Day 13 | Tan Chau Highlights:
Stay in Tan Chau and visit Evergreen Island and the local Cao Dai Temple with a ride in a cyclo. Alternatively choose from two options which cruise by speedboat to Chau Doc. Visit a family-operated fish farm before walking through a Cham village and taking a cyclo ride or alternatively visit Tra Su Bird Sanctuary and a local Khmer village.
Day 14 | Sa Dec – Cai Be Highlights:
Immerse yourself in the historic town of Sa Dec and explore the lively market, visit the home of Mr Huynh Thuy Le who inspired Marguerite Duras’ novel L’Amant and visit the Fuijian Chinese temple. Continue sailing downstream to Cai Be. Board a sampan to visit area around Cai Be floating market before stopping at local cottage industries and a French colonial house. Return to Scenic Spirit for tonight’s Champagne farewell dinner.
Day 15 | Disembark cruise – Ho Chi Minh City Highlights:
Depart My Tho and drive to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival enjoy a leisurely walk around Notre Dame Cathedral, Opera House and Central Post Office before relaxing at your hotel for the next two nights.
Two Night Stay: Ho Chi Minh City
Day 16 | Ho Chi Minh City Highlights:
Travel by boat and coach to meet a Vietnam War Veteran at the Cu Chi Tunnels and learn about the underground labyrinth of war-time passageways.
Day 17 | Depart Ho Chi Minh City Highlights:
Depart with many cherished memories.
