Day 1 | Highlights:
Start your journey with an overnight stay in Zurich.
Day 2 | Zurich > Lucerne > Bern Highlights:
Repeatedly named the city with the best quality of life, Switzerland’s largest city is full of treasures and you’ll have the chance to discover them first-hand. After that, you’ll get to explore Lucerne, overlooked by the magnificent Swiss Alp peaks of Mounts Pilatus and Rigi, before arriving in Bern for your overnight stay.
Day 3 | Bern > Montreux Highlights:
Ascend the Swiss Alps to the charming alpine village of Gstaad. Then, continue to Montreux. This afternoon you’ll get the chance to luxuriate at your hotel located where you’ll enjoy a two night stay.
Day 4 | Montreux Highlights:
Today you’ll board a first class carriage for a panoramic train journey to Château-d’Œx. Upon arrival you’ll view traditional cheese-making in rustic ambience at the Restaurant Le Chalet. The Restaurant Le Chalet makes its own cheese, “Le Chalet Bio”. The cheesemaker transforms milk into a hard cheese right in front of your eyes. At the end of the demonstration you’ll have an opportunity to taste the freshly made cheese.
Day 5 | Montreux > Basel Highlights:
Today leave Montreux and journey to neighbouring Vevey, home to Charlie Chaplin once he’d fled the United States. Enter the world of Charlie Chaplin as you meet one of the 20th century’s most celebrated artists during a visit to the Chaplin’s World Museum. From there, it’s on to Basel where a warm welcome awaits you from the crew of your luxury Scenic Space-Ship. Your luxury cruise is about to begin and you’ll have the chance to raise your glass to the occasion at the evening’s welcome reception.
Day 6 | Strasbourg Highlights:
Visit Strasbourg, where you’ll discover La Petite France and stroll through the Old Town, with its half-timbered houses and distinctive Alsatian winstubs. Alternatively, journey to Mittelbergheim in the Alsace and sample some of the best wines the region has to offer. Or you can opt to visit the Black Forest region, and enjoy a guided hike through its majestic vineyards.
Day 7 | Mannheim Highlights:
Join a local guide on a historic tour of Heidelberg, where you’ll visit Heidelberg’s Renaissance castle. The castle ruins are among the most important Renaissance structures north of the Alps. Or join a local guide for an orientation tour of Heidelberg, followed by leisure time.
Day 8 | Rüdesheim > Koblenz Highlights:
Arrive in charming Rüdesheim and board the Winzerexpress mini-train for a guided visit of Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. Then enjoy a cable car ride to the Niederwald Monument. Marvel at the spectacular World Heritage-listed Rhine Gorge, before arriving in lovely Koblenz.
Day 9 | Koblenz Highlights:
Take advantage of a guided tour of this historic city, which straddles two of Europe’s most beautiful rivers. Alternatively, discover Cochem – a true medieval gem resting on the banks of the Moselle River. Cochem will make you feel as if you’re stepping straight into a fairytale and you’ll be able to explore this charming city on a guided tour including a visit to Reichsburg Castle. Alternatively, visit a local winery and sample some of its fine wines. Or if you are feeling more active you might wish to take a guided cycling tour.
Day 10 | Cologne Highlights:
Enjoy a scenic ride on the oldest cog railway of Germany and discover splendid Drachenburg Castle, or stroll through Cologne and get up close to the filigree twin towers of the famous cathedral. Either way, it’s a great day to see and discover.
Day 11 | Amsterdam Highlights:
Cruise through the iconic canals that have made Amsterdam world famous. Alternatively, discover charming Volendam, with its unusual raised homes and quaint wooden church before heading to
the equally charming village of Edam, famous for its round cheese.
Day 12 | Amsterdam Highlights:
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Amsterdam Airport for your onward or homebound flight. You’ll be taking a lifetime of wonderful memories back with you.
