 A river cruise on the Mekong River can be enjoyed throughout the year. Each season in this region presents its own gifts and the tropical climate means temperatures are warm year-round, which makes river cruising on Scenic Spirit comfortable and appealing.

Along with your spacious suite, the variety of dining, wellness, outdoor and relaxation areas make it easy to find your own space to refresh in after a busy morning or afternoon exploring onshore. Move between the Sun Deck, outdoor lounge area and library, outdoor cinema#, resort-style pool, serene spa*, steam sauna, state-of-the-art gym, or beauty salon*. Scenic offers 7-night cruises on the Mekong from mid-October to May and is the only river cruise operator with 9-night river cruises from July to mid-October.

Q. What should I pack for an South East Asia River Cruise?

South East Asia's warm, humid climate means light, breathable clothing is most comfortable. At all times of year, it is possible to have some rain, even if just a light afternoon shower, therefore, ensure you're prepared by bringing a light rain jacket. Sandals and a pair of trainers or walking shoes are ideal footwear.

Most temples and pagodas require guests to cover their shoulders and knees upon entry. Therefore, a scarf or sarong can be an immensely versatile accessory.

Insect repellent is an ideal item to have to hand whilst exploring rural areas and in the evenings. Lastly, don't forget your sunscreen, sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat to protect you from the sun.

Q. Is Scenic Spirit built and designed to European safety standards?

Scenic has invested in our own ship operations in South East Asia. We are the only cruise company in the region to 100% build, own and operate its ships as well as design them to European safety standards. We also operate them with a Scenic crew overseen by our global and local management teams based in the region. This ensures our ability to deliver a consistent level of unmatched 5-star service to our guests.

Scenic Spirit features the largest lead-in suites on the Mekong and an unparalleled attention to detail, including marine paneling for noise reduction, high-end water purification systems and the guest elevator. All suites are ventilated with pre-treated fresh air that does not circulate to other suites.

Q. Does Scenic Spirit have a choice of dining venues?
A. Choose from up to four dining venues on board Scenic Spirit. Crystal Dining is the main restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Enjoy casual and flexible dining options at River Café which offers full service and mouth-watering food along with light snacks, healthy options and tasty treats.

Diamond Deck guests on board Scenic Spirit can enjoy a 10-course dégustation dinner with paired wines at Chefs Table Dining. Alternatively, dine in the comfort of your suite whilst enjoying the views with our In-Suite Dining menu.
Q. Are all meals included on board and during shore excursions?

During the duration of the river cruise, all meals are included. Choose from up to four dining venues, from casual to fine dining. Try a new local dish or stay with the universal favourites. During your extended land journey before and after your cruise, refer to the meal inclusions of the applicable itinerary.

Q. What food should I expect to eat in South East Asia?

Our Executive Chefs have been trained in Europe and Asia, with the cuisine a fusion of local specialties and international flavours. While many meals during your time with Scenic will reflect the local cuisine and delicacies, which may be different to what you are normally accustomed to, you can also expect to find many familiar western options.

Your dining experiences, whatever your tastes, will certainly enhance your river cruise and land journey.

A. Please advise Scenic or your travel agent at the time of booking if you have any specific requirements so they can best be accommodated. Check in with your Cruise or Tour Director at the start of the cruise or land journey to confirm your requirements, especially any allergies. 
Q. Are all drinks included on board all day, every day or just during lunch and dinner?

Guests can enjoy an extensive international selection of complimentary beverages all day, every day^ whilst on board Scenic Spirit.

Choose from an impressive and extensive international range of wines, beers and spirits on board. With over 50 varieties of fine wines from around the world and over 70 local and international liquor and spirits on offer, you can try something new every day of your cruise.

Q. Do all suite types have included butler service?

Yes, all guests can enjoy butler service. Ring your butler at any time to have your shoes shined, laundry done, a snack delivered to your room, or any of the many other services that your butler is professionally trained to offer.

Q. Are all shore excursions or activities included with no additional charges?
A. Scenic includes all the must-see places and attractions, such as the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh. You can also personalise your experience in South East Asia to your preferences and pace in key locations with our range of included Scenic Freechoice activities.
Q. How spacious are the lead-in suites and do they have a separate living area, walk-in-wardrobe, bedroom and balcony?

Luxuriously appointed, our multi-room suites all feature balconies and the lead-in category, are the most spacious on the Mekong River.

Every suite features our innovative Scenic Sun Lounge which converts to an all-weather balcony at the press of a button. Plus, all suites feature the exclusive Scenic Slumber Beds, pillow menu, a separate lounge, walk-in wardrobe, and oversized bathroom stocked with luxurious eco-friendly toiletries.

In addition, your mini-bar is fully re-stocked daily, including snacks and alcoholic beverages.

Q. Is the staff ratio almost 1:1?

Scenic guests can enjoy personal service with an almost 1:1 staff-to-guest ratio. There are only up to 68 guests on the Mekong, with a maximum groups size of 24 for touring onshore. Each with a Scenic Tour Director who is with you from the start to the finish of your journey, including the cruise portion.

Q. Does the company I am travelling with have its own offices in South East Asia?

Q. Who are the staff and crew trained and employed by – the cruise provider or through a third party?
A. All Scenic staff and crew are trained and employed by Scenic, not a third-party organisation. Our Executive Chefs are professionally trained in Europe and Asia, are adept at crafting dishes inspired by countries around the world.
Q. Is there a complimentary self-service laundry on board to do washing and ironing?
A. Scenic Spirit has a self-service laundry and ironing facility at no cost to our guests to enable you to wash your clothing if you desire. This is particularly useful if you have been travelling on a land journey in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos prior to your river cruise, and also means you can pack lighter.
Q. Is there an elevator on board Scenic Spirit on the Mekong River?

Scenic Spirit has a guest elevator servicing all decks except the Sun Deck.

Q. Do I need to pay extra for my internal fights on top of my cruise fare?
A. All internal flights that are part of your Scenic itinerary are included as part of your total cruise fare where applicable.
Q. Are my transfers on arrival and departure included or do I need to arrange these separately?
A. All airport transfers are included at your convenience.
Q. Are all tipping and gratuities included?
A. Yes, all tipping is included for your time on Scenic Spirit and for any portion of your Scenic arranged land journey.
