20 Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1 - Santiago > Valparaiso, Chile

    The World Heritage-listed city of Valparaíso welcomes with its long and colourful history dating back to the conquistadors. This vibrant city is rich in theatre, music, performance and street art and exquisite Victorian architecture. Most streets, staircases, alleyways and buildings are brightly painted.

  2. Day 2 - At sea

    Relaxation beckons with so many choices on board you will wonder how time passes so quickly. Choose one of the daily activities including a class in Scenic Epicure, join an entertaining discussion in the Theatre, or make time for your own fitness regime.

  3. Day 3 - Puerto Montt

    At the very end of the Pan American highway is Puerto Montt, which is the starting point for a fabled land of fjords, canals, islands, snow-capped volcanoes, green-forested hills and the enchantment of Southern Chile. Puerto Montt is the perfect starting point to explore the German cities of Frutillar and Puerto Varas.

  4. Day 4 - Castro

    Visit Castro, where colourful wooden stilt houses line the waterfront and the Chilote culture is seen throughout the World Heritage-listed churches and architecture.
    Today choose one of our Scenic Freechoice activities or join a more active Scenic Discovery excursion.

    Explore Castro and two of the World Heritage-listed chapels or discover the village of Dalcahue and the island of Quinchao. Alternatively, see the farmlands and countryside on horseback.

    Travel to the Chiloé National Park and stroll the Tepual pathway through a forest of tepu.

  5. Day 5 - Inner Fjords

    Journey to one of the most spectacular locations in Southern Chile. Board a local catamaran and cruise into the Laguna San Rafael via a narrow opening revealing fantastic views of ice and the San Valentin Glacier. As a dramatic backdrop, the San Valentin Mountain rises from this massive ice field which is part of the Laguna San Rafael National Park.
    Visit a coastal village, located between the mouth of the Baker River, the largest river in Chile, and a small embayment of the Baker Channel. The surrounding geography is rugged, formed by a number of islands, fjords, channels and estuaries. Cruise the Angostura Ingles (English Narrows) at the foot of the massive Darwin Cordillera mountain range, the majestic scenery and wildlife of the inner passages of the Chilean Channels is an assault on the senses. Watch from the Sun Terrace, the Observation Terrace or your private verandah as the Captain and local Chilean Pilot expertly manoeuvre Scenic Eclipse through the islands and channel markers of the English Narrows.

  9. Day 9 - Punta Arenas

    Not far from Patagonia, the city is located in the extreme south of Chile with a port and sheep-breeding history, the gateway into Antarctica will captivate you with its clean air and sophisticated European architecture.

    Join a local guide for a walking tour of Punta Arenas, or visit the Magellan Strait Park and Fort Bulnes and learn the history of this area. Choose to step back in time with a visit to the Nao Victoria’s full-size replica of the Magellan’s ship at Salesian Museum or visit an estancia and discover a new way of life.

  10. Day 10 - Chilean Fjords

    Enjoy days of cruising as you traverse the Agostini and Garibaldi Fjords. Glaciers abound with the Monte Buckland mountain range as the backdrop.

  12. Day 12 - Cape Horn

    The point where the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean meet, Cape Horn is steeped in maritime history and is the southernmost headland of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago and the southernmost tip of Chile. Weather permitting, our landing on Cape Horn will show the true skill of our Captain, crew and the Discovery Team.

  13. Day 13 - Ushuaia, Argentina > Buenos Aires

    Your cruise ends this morning as you farewell the crew. Disembark after breakfast to fly to Buenos Aires for a one night Special Stay.

  14. Day 14 - Buenos Aires > Iguazú Falls, Brazil

    This morning, fly to Iguazú Falls. Discover the walkways across the top of the falls on the Argentinean side to the lookout where you will see the famous ‘Devil’s Throat’ and be awed by the sheer volume of water cascading over the falls. Cross the border and enter the Brazilian National Park for your three night Special Stay. With an enviable setting inside the park gates, as a guest of the hotel you will be able to experience the sun setting over the top the magnificent natural wonder of the falls without the general public.

  15. Day 15 - Iguazú Falls

    Enjoy a leisurely walking tour to discover the Brazilian Falls before the park gates open to the public. Be awed by the world’s largest volume waterfall as you stand on the walkway in the middle of the falls. Your day continues with an exciting jet boat adventure to see the base of the falls and feel the spray on your face. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

  16. Day 16 - Iguazú Falls

    This morning, explore Parque das Aves and be amazed by the colourful array of rare birds flying in the huge aviaries.

  17. Day 17 - Iguazú Falls > Rio de Janeiro

    Fly to the vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro. A highlight will be your three night Special Stay, set in the heart of the beach strip.

    At Sugarloaf Mountain, take the cable car to the peak for Scenic Sundowner drinks while taking in the spectacular views of Rio at sunset.

  18. Day 18 - Rio de Janeiro

    Discover the beating heart of this exotic city. Take a fascinating walking tour through downtown Rio, home to the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Municipal Theatre. Learn about Rio’s history and culture and appreciate the locals’ lifestyle. Ride the cogwheel railway to the top of Corcovado Mountain to see the famous Christ the Redeemer statue. Indulge in a mouth-watering Brazilian Churrascaria experience.

  19. Day 19 - Rio de Janeiro
