18 Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1 - San José

    Welcome to colourful Costa Rica. Make your way to your Special Stay hotel, a beautiful colonial hacienda set on a 30-acre coffee plantation. Relax for the rest of the day and enjoy its fine facilities.

  2. Day 2 - San José > Arenal Volcano

    Make your way to the Arenal Volcano. En route, stop for a delicious lunch prepared using authentic, local ingredients at a traditional restaurant in Poas, then continue towards La Paz Waterfall Gardens. Situated within a private park at an altitude of around 5,000 feet, you can walk along the 3.5 kilometres of trails to visit the five waterfalls, cloud forest and rainforest areas, and the various exotic animal and flower exhibits Head towards the town of La Fortuna, home to the colossal Arenal Volcano that will be your host for the next three nights. Relax at the facilities of this immersive five star lodge this evening and enjoy dinner with the group.

  3. Day 3 - Arenal Volcano

    Enjoy a guided journey through the Arenal Vida Campesina farm, experience life in the Costa Rican countryside by participating in local activities like milking a cow, making tortillas, gathering vegetables from the vegetable garden, milling sugar cane, and drawing water from a handmade well. You will also have the opportunity to sponsor and plant a tree in danger of extinction, followed by a delicious and wholesome organic lunch made with products harvested from the property and cooked on a wood stove.

  4. Day 4 - Arenal Volcano

    Enjoy the sights, sounds and tranquillity of the rainforest as you quietly paddle along the Peñas Blancas River. Keep your binoculars ready as a wealth of exotic wildlife awaits you, including monkeys, sloths, and numerous birds. Your expert guides will regale you with enlightening details about the plants and animals you encounter. Soak up the serenity as you travel down the river and capture memories on your camera.

  5. Day 5 - Arenal Volcano > Monteverde Cloud Forest

    It’s time to leave behind the rainforest on the northern plains of the country and move toward the cloud forest. Cross the Arenal Lake by boat, one of the most scenic rides that you will have during your journey.  Visit NATUWA – Macaw and Rescue Centre to learn more about the conservation of native flora and fauna, including endangered species. Enjoy the scenic ride through forests and farms as you ascend the Tilaran Mountain Range for amazing views of the countryside and Nicoya Gulf. Arrive at your luxury eco-hotel for the next two nights.

  6. Day 6 - Monteverde Cloud Forest

    Take a Sky Tram up to the Continental Divide and to one of the highest mountains of Monteverde. If you’re feeling adventurous, take a ride on the Sky Trek, a system of zip lines consisting of four kilometres of linear cable, and safely zip through the forest. Five observation towers that rise above the treetops will give you the unique opportunity to view the cloud forest from above. Alternatively, enjoy taking a walk over the hanging bridges. Join your Tour Director for a delicious farwell dinner this evening.

  7. Day 7 - Monteverde Cloud Forest > San José

    Say farewell to Costa Rica as you transfer to Puerto Caldera and Board Scenic Eclipse, your home away from home, in the early afternoon to explore beautiful Costa Rica.

  8. Day 8 - Curú National Park > Islas Tortugas

    Cruise down the coast to Curú National Park and visit the Curú Wildlife Refuge. Be introduced to a variety of wildlife that thrives here, including up to 200 species of birds, capuchin and howler monkeys, as well as sloths and anteaters. Then unearth the tropical paradise of Isla Tortugas. This remote and pristine beachside community will draw you in with its clear waters and sun-kissed shores.

  9. Day 9 - Quepos

    Whether you’re a wildlife lover, thrill seeker or simply looking to relax on the shore of azure waters, Quepos has something to offer everyone. Surrounded by the rainforest of Manuel Antonio National Park, Quepos is home to beaches of brilliant white sands, tropical plants, coral reefs and a plethora of manual and bird species.


    Take a boat ride through the mangroves and learn about this a unique and fragile ecosystem, or join a local guide through the trails of the Extravaganza Rainforest before learning of the coffee roasting process. Explore Manuel Antonio National Park on one of the best in the Central Pacific, or if you would like some adventure, fly through the tree tops of the Titi Canopy.

  10. Day 10 - At Sea

    Enjoy a relaxed day at sea on board Scenic Eclipse. There is ample time to rejuvenate.  Why not choose a class in one of the fitness spaces or try one of the therapy lounges in Senses Spa.

  11. Day 11 - Darién National Park, Panama

    Explore World Heritage-listed Darién National Park one of the most important heritage sites in Central America.  A natural bridge spanning the two Americas, it houses a myriad of habitats, ranging from rocky coastlines to sandy beaches and mangroves. A wealth of wildlife awaits such as the endangered night monkey, spotted paca and Guatemalan black howler. It's no wonder Darién National Park remains one of the few examples in the world of a protected area co-inhabited by humans. Journey into the lives of the Embera Indian Tribe and learn of their traditions and lifestyle during this cultural encounter.

  12. Day 12 - Utría National Park, Colombia

    Sitting on Colombia’s Pacific coast is the lush tract of Utría National Park, considered a national landmark for the country.  From coral reefs and mangroves in the marine realm, to tropical rainforest and rocky beaches where sea turtles come to lay their eggs, and warm waters where humpback whale thrive, few places in the world encompass the diversity of Utría’s ecosystems.

    Choose to experience a mangrove swamp on walkways that wind through this fragile ecosystem, or visit Playa Blanca and take the opportunity to explore one of the white beaches of the Colombian Pacific coast at your leisure.


    Kayak the calm waters of Utría and witness the great wealth of bird and other animal life in this rich habitat.

  13. Day 13 - At Sea

    Take a day to rejuvenate on board after your exciting on shore excursions. Try a game of bridge or canasta in the Observatory Lounge or tempt your palate with a wine tasting.

  14. Day 14 - Manta, Ecuador

    Located on Ecuador’s central  Pacific coast, Manta, once a trading hub between the Incas and the Mayas, is now famous for the export of Panama hats and tuna fishing.


    Choose to experience a rainforest walk in the Pacoche rainforest, or visit a fisherman village and a famous Panama hat factory. Alternatively, learn how cacao beans are grown and cultivated and the chocolate making process during a plantation tour.

  15. Day 15 - At Sea

    Today relax on board. With so many choices, you will be surprised how quickly the time passes.

  16. Day 16 - Salaverry, Peru

    Salaverry is the gateway to the cultural capital of Peru, picturesque Trujillo – home to colonial mansions and magical ruins. Explore the amazing ruins and archaeological treasures of the Mochica and Chimu civilisations. Later this afternoon, cruise down to the chain of islands that are home to hundreds of seabird species.


    Discover the sacred adobe temples, the Pyramid of the Sun and Moon or explore the amazing World Heritage-listed site of Chan Chan.


    Be amazed with the grace and elegance of the Peruvian Paso horse in a charming display of these beautiful and authentic animals.

  17. Day 17 - Isla Guañape

    Lying off the Pacific Ocean coast of Peru, this small chain of four islands is a wildlife refuge protected by Peru's National Reserve System of Guano Islands, Isles and Capes. Isla Guañape was once harvested for it’s the rich fertilising properties of guano found here.. You’ll get the chance to witness the abundant native wildlife including inquisitive southern sea lions and mischievous Humboldt penguins. Catch a glimpse at Guanay cormorant and blue-footed boobies as they flock.

  18. Day 18 - Callao (Lima)

    Your cruise ends this morning in Callao (Lima) as you farewell your crew. Disembark after breakfast and transfer to the airport for your flight homeward.
