29 Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1 - Lima, Peru

    Welcome to Lima, Peru where your journey into wonder begins as with a warm greeting by the crew as you step on board Scenic Eclipse. Raise your glass this evening and toast the start of your luxurious cruise.

  2. Day 2 - Parcas

    Parcas Bay, where the desert and the sea come together in spectacular landscapes. The cliffs that frame the beaches are prolific with wildlife including millions of seagulls and cormorants that are year round residents, as well as many migratory birds including guano birds and Humboldt penguins.

    Witness a private performance of entertaining Peruvian musicians as you sample the national drink, the pisco sour against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.

    The World Heritage-listed city of Valparaíso welcomes you with its long and colourful history dating back to the conquistadors

    Experience the winding cobblestone labyrinths of alleyways and bustling streets or travel to the Casablanca Valley and taste some of Chile’s finest vintages. Alternatively, visit Viña del Mar and discover why it is known as the ‘Garden City’.

  7. Day 7 - At sea

    Relaxation beckons with so many choices on board you will wonder how time passes so quickly. Choose one of the daily activities, join an entertaining discussion in the Theatre, or make time for yourself in the Senses Spa.

  8. Day 8 - Puerto Montt

    At the very end of the Pan American highway is Puerto Montt, which is the starting point for a fabled land of fjords, canals, islands, snow-capped volcanoes, green-forested hills and the enchantment of Southern Chile.

    Visit Puerto Varas and Frutillar. Alternatively, explore Osorno Volcano and Petrohué Falls or the Felmer Museum and Frutillar.

  9. Day 9 - Castro

    Visit Castro, where colourful wooden stilt houses line the waterfront and the Chilote culture is seen throughout the World Heritage-listed churches and architecture.
    Today choose one of our Scenic Freechoice activities or join a more active Scenic Discovery excursion.

    Explore Castro and two of the World Heritage-listed chapels or discover the village of Dalcahue and the island of Quinchao. Alternatively, see the farmlands and countryside on horseback.

    Travel to the Chiloé National Park and stroll the Tepual pathway through a forest of tepu.

  10. Day 10 - Inner Fjords

    Journey to one of the most spectacular locations in Southern Chile. Board a local catamaran and cruise into the Laguna San Rafael via a narrow opening revealing fantastic views of ice and the San Valentin Glacier. As a dramatic backdrop, the San Valentin Mountain rises from this massive ice field which is part of the Laguna San Rafael National Park.
    Visit a coastal village, located between the mouth of the Baker River, the largest river in Chile, and a small embankment of the Baker Channel. The surrounding geography is rugged, formed by a number of islands, fjords, channels and estuaries. Cruise the Angostura Ingles (English Narrows) at the foot of the massive Darwin Cordillera mountain range, the majestic scenery and wildlife of the inner passages of the Chilean Channels is an assault on the senses. Watch from the Sun Terrace, the Observation Terrace or your private verandah as the Captain and local Chilean Pilot expertly manoeuvre Scenic Eclipse through the islands and channel markers of the English Narrows.

  14. Day 14 - Punta Arenas

    Not far from Patagonia, the city is located in the extreme south of Chile with a port and sheep-breeding history, the gateway into Antarctica will captivate you with its clean air and sophisticated European architecture.

    Join a local guide for a walking tour of Punta Arenas, or visit the Magellan Strait Park and Fort Bulnes and learn the history of this area. Choose to step back in time with a visit to the Nao Victoria’s full-size replica of the Magellan’s ship at Salesian Museum or visit an estancia and discover a new way of life.

  15. Day 15 - Chilean Fjords

    Enjoy days of cruising cruising await as you traverse the Agostini and Garibaldi Fjords. Glaciers abound with the Monte Buckland mountain range as the backdrop.

  17. Day 17 - Cape Horn

    The point where the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean meet, Cape Horn is steeped in maritime history and is the southernmost headland of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago and the southernmost tip of Chile. Weather permitting, our landing on Cape Horn will show the true skill of our Captain, Crew and the Discovery Team.

  18. Day 18 - Ushuaia, Argentina

    Set sail this evening and cruise through the Beagle Channel and admire the dramatic views of the Andean mountains of Tierra del Fuego from the comfort of your private verandah.

  19. Day 19 - At sea

    Relax and enjoy the amazing facilities of your floating resort as you cruise towards the Antarctic Peninsula. An entertaining presentation by the Discovery Team in the state-of-the-art theatre will excite you for what’s to come, or relax in your suite and watch the live streaming on your TV.
    Your palate will be delighted as you explore the extensive range of dining options, or a butler will serve you as you dine in-suite. The first sightings of icebergs and snow-capped mountains signal that you have reached the Antarctic Peninsula.

  21. Day 21 - Antarctic Peninsula

    Due to the extraordinary nature of the region, a host of choices are now open and, depending on the ice and weather conditions, the Antarctic Peninsula is yours to explore. Your experienced Discovery Team Leaders, who have made countless journeys to Antarctica, will use their expertise to design your voyage from day to day, making the most of 18–20 hours of daylight.

    Discovery

    Partake in daily Scenic Discovery excursions. Cruise on the Zodiacs around ice formations, step onto islands to view vast penguin rookeries and seals. Kayak around icebergs and hear the ice cracking and whales feeding below. 

    Your expert Captain and crew will navigate some of the most beautiful waterways which may include traversing the stunning 11-kilometre-long Lemaire Channel where steep cliffs hem in the iceberg-filled passage just 700 metres wide at its narrowest point. There may be the chance to visit a working scientific base and discuss life in these harsh conditions with the staff. In late February and March, if conditions are favourable, there may be the opportunity to cross the Antarctic Circle at latitude 66°33’ South.
